Volunteer to support a Foster Care Family in Cherokee County
ORGANIZATION: Atlanta Angels
Please visit the new page to apply.

Atlanta Angels knows that not everyone is called to foster or adopt, but everyone can make a difference in the life of a child. There are several ways you can make a difference. We have the Love Box program, where we match a foster family with a volunteer in their community who is committed to building a relationship and showing consistently. The Love Box program provides fostering families (caregivers, children in foster care, and biological/adopted children) with community and holistic support. As a Love Box group, you will be matched with a local foster family based on location, compatibility, and scope of needs. When our families are matched with committed volunteers who show up monthly, parents feel supported and children gain a greater sense of normalcy, relational permanency, and self confidence.
This program requires a one-year commitment, with meetings at least once a month with your family.
We are currently seeking a volunteer(s) to be matched to a family on our waitlist in Cherokee County. This family is a caring single foster parent originally from Russia who has been fostering since 2018. She enjoys taking the kids to parks, lakes, and pools, and values creating fun and meaningful experiences for them. She’s currently caring for an 11-year-old boy who loves cooking, water parks, and trying new foods, and a 13-year-old who is still adjusting after leaving residential care. The family would benefit from a supportive volunteer who can help with outings, building connections, and offering light assistance like grocery or clothing support.
Please reach out to Allie at volunteers@atlantaangels.org for more information or please visit our website. If you are in or near Cherokee County and interested in supporting a local family, please reach out!

Mission Statement
To walk alongside children in the foster care system, as well as their caretakers, by offering consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building, and mentorship.
Description
Atlanta Angels is a foster care non-profit that was created to help empower children and build sustainable foster homes. We are a community of people that walk alongside foster children and their caretakers by offering consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building and mentorship. Our solution to the foster care crisis are the Love Box family support program and Dare to Dream youth mentor programs. Our programs utilize a trauma-informed, wrap-around service model that strengthens relationships between foster families, youth in foster care, and bio families. Our volunteers are everyday people who meet practical needs while spending quality time with the whole family building positive community. They are changing the way kids and parents experience the foster care system. At Atlanta Angels we believe in the power of love and the value of friendship and positive role models for kids and youth in foster care. We want to connect people passionate about making a difference in the foster care community to our most vulnerable children and youth who have experienced neglect and abuse and the selfless parents who care for them.
