Become a mentor with Space of Her Own (SOHO)!
Alexandria's award-winning SOHO program seeks a team of caring, culturally diverse, responsible women to volunteer as mentors for the 2025-2026 school year. We hope you'll join us for an information session to learn more about how our program is structured, our expectations for mentors, the girls we serve, and how YOU can apply to become a SOHO mentor!
Click here to sign up for an information session! Attendance at an information session is required to apply for the program. If you are unable to attend any of the sessions, but are still interested in mentoring with SOHO, please contact Program Manager Renee Liden at renee.liden@spaceofherown.org
Transforming spaces and transforming lives, SOHO seeks to create an environment in which girls feel free to grow, express themselves, and step outside of their comfort zone. By pairing mentors one-to-one with 5th grade girls, we aim to create the foundation of a long-lasting bond. Mentors and mentees work together weekly on an array of professionally-led art and STEM projects designed to help the girls gain confidence and value their creativity. At the end of the school year, mentors work with their mentee and their mentee's family to transform their mentee's sleeping space with the projects they've created together, empowering each girl with a true 'space of HER own'.
SOHO mentors attend weekly sessions from September to early June from 5:30-8 p.m. on Tuesdays OR Wednesdays (program night is determined during the application process). Mentors must have access to a personal vehicle.
We can't wait to meet you!
