DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Real-World Experience: Gain hands-on experience in project management, grant writing, outreach, and program development.
  • Networking: Build a powerful network of community leaders, public sector professionals, and fellow national service members.
  • Resume Booster: AmeriCorps service is widely respected by employers, graduate schools, and fellowship programs.
  • Training Opportunities: Access in-service training, leadership development, and online learning platforms to expand your skill set.
  • Fundraising & Events: Plan and coordinate fundraising activities aligned with ACE’s goals, including budgeting, scheduling, strategic planning, and post-event evaluations in collaboration with the Marketing & Events Coordinator.
  • Grant Writing: Prepare and submit at least three compelling grant proposals, including narratives and supporting documents, with regular updates on application status and deadlines.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: Research and develop procedures for project implementation, contract compliance, and quality assurance; create a staff-informed manual and pilot training program with in-person and self-paced learning components.

Benefits:

  • Living Allowance: Modest stipend based on local poverty rates to cover basic expenses. $1,155.14 bi-weekly living allowance.
  • End-of-Service Award: Choice between a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award- $7,395.00 (for student loans or further education) or a cash stipend- $1,800.00 upon completion.
  • Professional Development: Gain valuable experience, skills, and leadership training.
  • Federal Non-Competitive Eligibility (NCE): Qualify for special hiring status for federal jobs.
  • Student Loan Support: Federal loans may be deferred, with interest paid by the National Trust.
  • Healthcare Benefits: Access to health coverage or a healthcare allowance.
  • Childcare Assistance: Subsidized child care is available for eligible members.
  • Relocation & Emergency Support: Assistance with relocation costs and access to emergency aid.

Alliance for Community Empowerment (ACE) is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering disadvantaged communities in the San Fernando Valley. ACE provides education, workforce development, violence intervention & prevention, reentry navigation and mental health services for marginalized individuals and families. Since its inception, ACE has assisted thousands of individuals in overcoming barriers by addressing the core issues facing their low-income communities. ACE’s core programs include YouthBuild, GRYD, SECTOR, and Parenting.
