Are you skilled with a chainsaw and want to make your time and talent count? Grounded Boots Relief is looking for volunteer sawyers to support disaster recovery efforts throughout the Southeast. Whether it’s clearing trees after storms, opening access routes, or helping families reclaim their properties, your experience behind the saw can make an immediate impact.
We deploy in times of crisis to bring fast, practical relief - and that often starts with a chainsaw in hand. We're especially seeking volunteers comfortable working in post-disaster environments, with safety-first mindsets and a heart for helping neighbors in need.
What you'll do:
Use chainsaws to remove downed trees and debris
Help clear access for emergency vehicles, volunteers, and survivors
Work with a team of Grounded Boots Relief volunteers in field operations
Stay mission-ready and support communities across a 500-mile radius
Preferred Qualifications:
Chainsaw experience
Your own PPE and saw (not required, but preferred)
Familiarity with post-disaster environments is a plus
Bonus if you’re certified in Sawyer levels (USFS or equivalent), but we welcome all skill levels and will connect you with training opportunities where needed.
Let your hands do the heavy lifting - and your heart lead the way. Join us in bringing grounded, boots-on-the-ground relief when it matters most.

Mission Statement
Among the first boots on the ground, we deliver critical support and resources to communities when they need it most.
Description
Grounded Boots Relief is a nonprofit disaster response organization based in Western North Carolina. Our mission is simple but critical: we respond immediately to disasters, providing life-saving resources like food, water, and medical, while also assisting in implementing long-term recovery efforts wherever we’re needed. From hurricanes to wildfires, we focus on what’s most needed in the moment-whether that’s drones for SAR, boots on the ground clearing debris, or propane tanks for heating. We’re here to bring hope, help, and tangible relief when it matters most. With community support and trusted partnerships, we’re building a future where no one will have to face disaster alone.
