Jersey STEM is a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to offering innovative opportunities and bridging the gender gap in STEM education for children in New Jersey’s underserved communities. We are dedicated to partnering with local schools, parents, and educators to create and enhance STEM-oriented educational opportunities for students in grades 5-8 as part of their paths towards college and career readiness. We provide free after-school, project-based, and hands-on structured programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Classes include: Robotics, Coding, Engineering, Life Sciences, etc. Classes last up to 10 weeks and are predominantly taught by trained volunteer college students.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for translating brand strategy into powerful and purposeful creative concepts, with the goal of elevating JerseySTEM’s visual brand identity across all verticals
  • Partners with CRPE, COME and CLGE marketing leads to support all creative needs
  • Operates cross-functionally with various stakeholders
  • Leads a team of creatives including but not limited to Designers, Copywriters, Editors, and Project Managers
  • Recruits and maintains a ready-team of external creatives that can be leveraged as needed based on project pipeline and project-specific creative skill-sets
  • Works with the Head of Marketing to address cross-functional stakeholder needs
  • Owns the historical documentation of all creative marketing processes and responsibilities by creating artifact materials for the JerseySTEM knowledge hub

Qualifications:

  • Strong creative skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Self-motivated, proactive
  • Excels at cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience producing marketing collateral (presentation experience is a plus)
  • Experience working across various mediums from writing, video, events, etc.
  • Experience working within G-Suite, Slack and JIRA preferred

Mission Statement

JerseySTEM is a grassroots 501(c) nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math ("STEM") education to girls grade 5-8 from underserved communities in New Jersey. We partner with socially responsible companies and their employees, youth organizations in underserved communities, and civic-minded college students and universities. Together we develop and deliver innovative, hands-on, and online afterschool projects and inquiry-based learning opportunities that develop teamwork, 21st-century problem-solving skills, and self-esteem.

Description

Incorporated in 2013, JerseySTEM started bringing afterschool enrichment programs to middle school girls in 2015.
We have since provided 1,000 students with exposure to afterschool enrichment programs delivering more than 20,000 hours of instruction. Students learn to code, build robots, solve problems and through that process gain self-esteem and confidence that they can be the leaders of tomorrow.
