If you’re someone who values self-love, sea-love, and community, we’d love for you to volunteer with us this summer!
Volunteering with Groundswell is a powerful way to build community, mentor others, and support individuals making the bold choice to heal through the ocean. Our volunteers help create safe, empowering spaces - both on land and in the water.
All volunteers are encouraged to attend our volunteer training: July 7 | 5:30-8:30 PM
Upcoming programs that need volunteer support:
- 3-Day Program: July 8-10 | 1:30-4:30 PM
- 6 Week Program: 7/9-8/13, every Wednesday 2:00-5:30pm
- 8 Week Program: 7/18 - 9/1, every Friday 8:00 - 10:30am

Mission Statement
Groundswell Community Project is a global non-profit dedicated to creating safer, braver spaces for healing, connection, and empowerment through the ocean. Rooted in trauma-informed, community-centered care, we support individuals, community leaders, and organizations in reclaiming their relationship with their bodies, nature, and one another through the transformative practice of surf therapy.
Description
Groundswell Community Project is the first organization to provide accredited training in trauma informed surf therapy modalities and curriculums supporting both clinicians, surf coaches, and water folx to have the mental health tools, curriculums, research, and support to increase access to research-based trauma informed surf therapy. We have served over 6000 individuals and their communities from over 32 countries and states since our birth in 2016.
With our home roots in San Diego, California, and community partnerships that extend across the globe, we strive to break down barriers and build up communities and leaders that celebrate the intersection between mental health and ocean health.
