ORGANIZATION: Idealist.org

Recruiting Organization: Tushita Foundation India

The Tushita Foundation is a trust intended to promote betterment in the living conditions of the less fortunate in India. It is entirely sustained by Tushita Travels, a key actor in Indian tourism. The project's inception has its roots in the realisation of the widening gap between the have and the have-nots in the country, so that we have decided to contribute our knowledge, energy and resources striving to improve the situation. Our village community house in Amber, a village chosen because most foreign tourists visit its impressive fort, allows us to interact with the population and advance their living conditions. It is our belief that given a proper education and opportunities, everyone can have a chance to succeed in a developing country. We aim to spread self-respect and confidence in the context of universal human values, irrespectively of caste or creed. Because there cannot be harmonious growth if too many people are left behind, in a small, connected world, we hope to make a difference.

The Tushita Foundation serves the people of the village of Amber who have asked for support with their children's studies. We offer after school free tutoring in English, Art, Geography, History, Sport, Theatre... In order to achieve this task, we are looking for volunteers to help with teaching English and organize extra-curricular activities such as drawing, dancing, singing and gardening. Applicants will be tasked with finding creative pathways to develop the Foundation's activities aimed at empowering the children. A commitment of three to ten months is necessary.

Students who are caring, passionate, open-minded and dedicated, will find in the village of Amber an opportunity to teach and learn to share some skills you are passionate about.

Fluency in English is compulsory and interests in education, social responsibility and international development are very welcome.

In order to be able to choose among very valuable applicants, we require you to write a project that would shape your experience with the children at the Foundation. Ideally, we would like you to share a passion of yours with the children that will broaden their horizons and help them grow.
