Artists Talk On Art (ATOA), the longest-running independent art forum in New York City, is seeking two volunteer board members to join our team during an exciting time of renewal and modernization.
We welcome mid career professionals with interest, experience, and background in any of the following areas:
- Modern and contemporary visual art
- Art history and criticism
- Arts administration or business administration
- Human sciences and cultural studies
- Finance and Governance
Ideal candidates are strategic, collaborative, and proactive, with a commitment to supporting critical dialogue in the arts.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in board meetings (remote)
- Provide strategic input and help guide organizational development
- Support programming, fundraising, outreach, or governance, depending on expertise
- Serve as an ambassador for ATOA’s mission in relevant networks
Requirements:
- Background in one or more of the listed fields
- Comfortable working independently and with a small team under new leadership
- Ability to commit to a minimum one-year term
- Interest in contributing to the evolution of a legacy nonprofit
- Mid-career individuals preferred
Location:
Remote (New York City-based preferred but not required)

Description
Founded in 1974, ATOA is the art world's longest running and most prolific panel discussion series. Over 8,500 artists and other art world members have been presented and documented in more than 1,400 events in New York City. The Archive of American Art of the Smithsonian is the official depository of all past and future ATOA audio and visual materials.
