If you're interested in learning more about ferret care, health, medication, illness and being surrounded by other ferret owners with a lot of experience, volunteering at the shelter may be for you!
Application Process:
We are looking for volunteers 18 years or older, that can come in on a regular schedule so that we can ensure all ferrets get their daily playtime and medication in a timely manner.

- Complete Ferret 101 ( GCFA’s custom training program to teach you ferret abd GCFA best practices)
Volunteer Duties:
Volunteers maintain a clean, safe environment for GCFA ferrets. This includes cage and litter box cleaning, laundry, sweeping, mopping, etc. Lead play groups ... a ferret’s time to stretch, explore, hunt down a toy, and show off their high-energy nature! Help a ferret get used to human touch. Socialization with volunteers provides comfort and can relieve stress from shelter life.

MISSION : The Greater Chicago Ferret Association (GCFA) is a non-for-profit ferret shelter and club that exists to educate the public about the domestic ferret as pets as well as the care and shelter of neglected, abused or abandoned ferrets.
Description
ABOUTUS: The GCFA is the sole no-kill ferret shelter servicing the Northeastern Illinois area since 1987. The GCFA does not receive federal, state or local tax dollars and relies on donations and fundraising activities. Since our inception, the GCFA and its volunteers who dedicate countless hours each year have rescued over 5500 ferrets; the majority of which have been adopted or fostered out to their forever homes.
