About Us

Generosity on the Go is a Washington 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Chenae White. Born from personal experience with cancer and community support, we provide essential support--including meals, housing assistance, hygiene products, and case management--to Black and Brown individuals and families. Since 2021, we've:

    • Raised over $5,500
    • Distributed 14,000+ items to 2,100+ individuals
    • Delivered 3,000+ hours of eviction prevention/rental assistance

Role Summary

As a board member, you’ll join a passionate leadership team to guide the organization’s growth, governance, and community impact. This is an opportunity to amplify Generosity on the Go’s mission and deepen its reach for those most in need.

Key Responsibilities

    • Governance & Strategy
      • Shape organizational vision and long-term strategy.
      • Oversee compliance, budget review, and policy development.
    • Fundraising & Resource Development
      • Contribute financially at a meaningful personal level.
      • Leverage networks for fundraising, donations, and corporate partnerships.
      • Assist with grant research and corporate giving opportunities.
    • Community Representation & Advocacy
      • Act as an ambassador at community, partner, and public events.
      • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, funders, and service partners.
    • Program Support & Volunteering
      • Engage in volunteer initiatives: food packing, distribution, eviction-prevention efforts.
      • Help evaluate and expand services to meet evolving community needs.
    • Board Participation
      • Attend and contribute to monthly board meetings.
      • Serve on at least one committee (e.g., fundraising, governance, program oversight).
      • Track personal fundraising and volunteer activity.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Passion for social justice, particularly in supporting Black and Brown communities.
    • Experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, strategic planning, or program development.
    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to commit 6-8 hours monthly (board + committee + event participation).
    • Willingness to make a personal financial contribution annually.
    • Ideally residing in or near the Seattle region (for in‑person meetings), with remote participation acceptable.

Time Commitment

    • Monthly board meeting: 90 minutes
    • Committee meetings: 1-2 hours/month
    • Volunteer events: 2-4 hours per quarter
    • Additional time for meetings, planning, and fundraising activities
    • Board Term: 1 year (with the option to renew)
