Caregiver OneCall is a California-based nonprofit providing 24/7 emotional support, resource navigation, and urgent help for unpaid family caregivers. Whether someone is caring for a child with autism, an aging parent, a partner with chronic illness, or managing their own health while caregiving, we are here. Our mission is rooted in equity, accessibility, and compassion.

We are seeking a skilled, mission-driven volunteer HR professional to help build the internal infrastructure needed to grow a sustainable and people-centered nonprofit.

This is an opportunity for an experienced HR leader to help shape a growing organization. You will provide expert-level guidance on HR systems and policies, lead volunteer onboarding structure, advise on compliance, and help create a supportive and inclusive culture as we scale.

• Develop and implement foundational HR policies and volunteer handbooks

• Design systems for recruitment, onboarding, and record-keeping

• Advise leadership on volunteer agreements, DEI practices, and risk management

• Ensure compliance with California nonprofit HR best practices

• Serve as a trusted advisor on conflict resolution, culture-building, and role design

• Help set up systems for performance evaluation, feedback, and appreciation

• 5+ years of experience in Human Resources (nonprofit or small org preferred)

• Strong knowledge of California HR law, labor standards, and volunteer management

• Strategic thinker with a passion for equity and trauma-informed leadership

• Comfortable building systems from the ground up

• Able to commit at least 12 months, ideally 10-15 hours/month

• SHRM certification or similar a plus, but not required

• Use your professional skills to shape a people-first nonprofit from the inside out

• Help build something meaningful that supports caregivers across California

• Gain visibility, impact, and purpose, alongside a founder-led, mission-driven team

• Receive public recognition and references for your contribution
