Gesher Peace Initiative is looking for passionate, dedicated and reliable volunteers interested in being part of an international effort to make real change in the lives of sexual violence survivors.

Our therapists play an important role in empowering the lives of conflict survivors. This includes:

• Assessing the psychological readiness of survivors to participate in resilience coaching.
• Providing mental health support to our resilience coaches.
• Providing emergency counselling for heavily traumatized survivors.

For this role, we are seeking individuals with training in mental health, trauma-informed practices, and experience with sexual abuse survivors. Ideally, this candidate will have a passion for culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed therapy, empowering sexual violence survivors, and a background in social work, therapy, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities:

CRSV Survivor Case Management

• Conduct trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate the emotional stability and coaching readiness of survivors.
• Provide short-term therapeutic support when survivors are not yet ready for coaching.
• Coordinate with case workers to create individual care plans.
• Maintain accurate and confidential session notes and assessment documentation.
• Support the transition of survivors from therapy to resilience coaching.

Resilience Coach Case Management:

• Facilitate mental health check-ins and emotional debriefs for volunteer coaches.
• Provide confidential counseling sessions upon request.
• Offer guidance and tools to help case workers manage vicarious trauma, burnout, and boundary-setting.

Qualifications

• Demonstratable experience in therapy, social work, case management, counselling, or related fields.
• Strong interpersonal skills including communicating with empathy and sensitivity, and the ability to work cross culturally.
• Arabic language skills are considered an asset.
• Experience and deep understanding of sexual violence, trauma responses and PTSD
• Experience working with displaced or vulnerable populations is an asset.
• Experience working with conflict/crisis settings is an asset.
