Please do not apply unless you are at least 5 years in either your own business ownership or with experience post-graduate work, as 10 hours a week commitment is almost impossible on a long term basis if you are looking for work or just starting your entrepreneurship journey. Actually, recently retired or fully established in business volunteers are preferred, and would enjoy the work and interactions most.
SCORE San Francisco is a 100 mentor, 60 year old volunteer 501 (c)3 chapter of a national organization that has 10,000 mentors. Small businesses need help in almost every aspect of their business...launching, maintaining, exiting. This job is virtual but we would prefer someone in the Bay Area so that you could visit at occasional member events.
If you like the idea of virtually meeting a lot of mentors and getting to know a lot of small business clients and be the matchmaker for them, apply as a volunteer "Client Intake Coordinator", and although it could be entirely automated, sometimes phone calls to either the clients (mentees) or mentors/subject matter experts are required before the match is assigned. We actually use two people...who split up the days however they want. One volunteer is very experienced and would help onboard.
