VIRTUAL/IN-PERSON
The scope of this volunteer-based position involves working with the Director of Community Impact and Marketing to reimagine, plan, and prepare for United Way’s Day of Caring, a mass volunteer event held annually in September.
This volunteer work offers an excellent learning opportunity for those looking to gain hands-on experience into the inner workings of the nonprofit industry, along with the chance to develop key skills and build professional connections. Upon successful completion, you’ll receive a strong reference that will greatly enhance your resume and open doors to future career opportunities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION
- Exploring the feasibility of taking on home repair projects for community members
- Researching legal requirements
- Providing cost estimates
- Preparing recommendations to mitigate United Way’s liability and cost
- Establishing partnerships with key representatives, such as building material suppliers and contractors
- Soliciting projects from community members and ensuring that all necessary information is obtained for project completion
