Recruiting Organization: Youthshare Initiatives
We're looking for five passionate and analytical Climate & Environmental Trends Analysts to join our dedicated volunteer team in France. These crucial roles will bolster our strategic understanding of environmental challenges impacting youth in Sub-Saharan Africa. Each volunteer's work will enable us to design more targeted and effective programs, directly informing our advocacy and educational initiatives, and empowering young leaders with current and relevant knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
As our Climate & Environmental Trends Analyst, you will:
- Conduct Research: Monitor and analyze global and regional climate and environmental trends relevant to Sub-Saharan Africa (e.g., deforestation, water scarcity, extreme weather events, sustainable agriculture).
- Data Collection & Synthesis: Gather information from scientific reports, policy documents, news, and academic research to identify key patterns and emerging issues.
- Reporting & Insights: Prepare concise summaries, briefings, and short reports (in English and/or French) highlighting critical environmental data and their potential socio-economic impacts on youth.
- Content Support: Contribute data and insights for our educational materials, advocacy campaigns, and social media content (1-minute TikTok/Instagram, 3-minute YouTube videos).
- Recommendations: Provide actionable insights that can inform our program development and strategic partnerships.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our program teams to ensure research findings are effectively integrated into our youth empowerment initiatives.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who is not only skilled but also deeply committed to our cause:
- Passion for our Mission: A genuine interest in youth empowerment and environmental issues in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to research, analyze, and synthesize complex information from various sources.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written communication skills to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Language Proficiency:Fluency or native-level proficiency in French and/or in English (written and spoken) is essential,
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using research tools and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace). Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Visme, Canva) is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in environmental research, climate analysis, policy analysis, or a related field is highly desirable. Academic background in environmental science, geography, international development, or a related discipline is a strong asset.
- Autonomy & Proactivity: Ability to work independently, manage tasks effectively, and take initiative.
Time Commitment
We are seeking a commitment of approximately 5-10 hours per week, flexible to accommodate your schedule. This is a remote volunteer position, but regular virtual team meetings will be scheduled.
