Cornerstone Hospice honors the services of our Veteran patients through the 'Cornerstone SALUTES!’ program. We proudly conduct a tailor-made pinning ceremony for our Veteran patients and their family, which is performed by a Veteran volunteer. Each Veteran is presented with a special pin and certificate of appreciation. Veteran volunteers can also provide Veteran-to-Veteran companionship, and interviews for the Veterans History Project.
Hospice volunteering is a unique opportunity to impact patients and their families by providing compassion and care for people as they near the end of life. Cornerstone Hospice, an affiliate of Chapters Health, is looking for volunteers who are dedicated to making a difference among our patients and families.

Description
We are a community-based, not-for profit provider of end-of-life and palliative care support services for people with life-limiting illness.
The word "hospice" comes from medieval times when "hospitality" shelters provided rest for sick or weary travelers on long journeys.
At Cornerstone Hospice, we concentrate on meeting the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients and their caregivers. Hospice care allows many patients to remain comfortable in their own environment surrounded by friends and family.
Loved ones share in patient care under the guidance of the Hospice team of professionals, ensuring a fulfilling alternative to institutional health care. Hospice supports the natural progression of life and refrains from interventions that would hasten the progression toward the end of life.
Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care, formerly Hospice of Lake and Sumter, was founded in 1984 to serve patients and families seeking quality and dignity in their lives while coping with an end-of-life illness. We serve Lake, Sumter, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Hardee, Highlands, and Marion counties in Central Florida and are licensed by the State of Florida and certified by Medicare and Medicaid.
