As a Wings Over Virginia Hospice volunteer, you may choose to serve in the following areas:
- Direct Patient Care - Companionship, errands, light chores, reading, conversation.
- Administrative Support - Office help, filing, bereavement mailings.
- Bereavement Support - Help with follow-up calls or events for families.
- Pet Therapy - Provide comfort with your certified pet.
- Special Events & Outreach - Represent the hospice at community events.
- Other- special services (ex. small home repairs, haircuts, etc.)
Note: All volunteers receive training before assignment.

Description
We provide physical, emotional, spiritual and practical care for people in the last phases of a life-limiting illness with an emphasis on control of pain and distressing symptoms. We reflect the spirit of the idea of caring which emphasizes comfort and dignity while making it possible for our patients to remain independent for as long as possible in surroundings familiar to them. Wings Over Virginia Hospice centers care on the patient and the family or caregiver. Our staff and Volunteers respect and respond to the unique differences in family, caregiver, lifestyle, values, and wishes.
