About Embrace Abilities:
We’re a small, grassroots nonprofit founded by parents, for parents-serving children and young adults with different abilities across the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Our mission is to create inclusive, welcoming spaces and social opportunities for families who often feel left out. We host free events, support groups, and are dreaming big: more programs, more families, more impact. Why We Need You:
We have the passion, the programs, and the heart-but we need help finding the funding to keep growing! We’re looking for volunteers to join our very first Funding Team. No professional fundraising experience required-just a willingness to learn, collaborate, and help us build something meaningful from the ground up. What You’ll Do:

  • Work with our founder (a fellow parent) to research and reach out to local businesses for sponsorships
  • Help identify and apply for grants (we’ll learn together!)
  • Brainstorm creative fundraising ideas and campaigns
  • Support our dream of offering workshops, social skills groups, and more for local families

What We Offer:
  • Remote and flexible-work from anywhere, on your own schedule
  • A supportive, family-first environment
  • The chance to make a real difference for kids and parents who need community
  • Opportunities to learn about nonprofit development, grant writing, and fundraising

Time Commitment:
Flexible! Even a couple hours a month can make a big impact. Who Should Apply?
  • Parents, caregivers, or anyone passionate about inclusion
  • People willing to learn and try new things
  • Team players-no solo heroes needed, just good humans!

Mission Statement

At Embrace Abilities, our mission is to foster meaningful connections and empower families of children and young adults with different abilities. We are committed to supporting the whole family through inclusive opportunities where individuals ages 3 to 21, their siblings, and caregivers feel valued, supported, and celebrated. Through free programs, community engagement, and tailored resources, we aim to bridge gaps in support and build a stronger, more inclusive community for all. We envision a future where families of children and young adults with different abilities thrive together in an inclusive and supportive environment. We believe in a world where diversity is embraced, every family member is empowered, and communities come together to ensure each individual has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Description

Embrace Abilities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, founded by Bridgett Lee in 2024. Inspired by lived experience, we’re dedicated to creating inclusive spaces where children, young adults, and families with different abilities feel valued and supported. We offer whole-family support through free, community-driven programs that foster confidence, independence, and meaningful connections. Our active programs include:

  • Structured Monthly Indoor Events: Inclusive gatherings for socialization, play, and connection.
  • Parent-Led Park Meetups: Outdoor activities encouraging engagement and community.
  • Birthday Buddies Club: Monthly celebrations to honor each participant’s special day.
  • Coffee with Caregivers: Quarterly sessions for parents and caregivers to connect and share support.
  • Sibshops: Activities for siblings to build friendships and share experiences.
  • Sensory Toolkits & Lending Library: Access to sensory supports for use at events.
Our values are inclusion, equal access, health, and community-driven support. We welcome children, young adults, siblings, caregivers, and professionals to help build a stronger, more inclusive Gulf Coast community. All programs are free, and donations are tax-deductible.
