Mission Statement
To empower refugees, displaced youth, and host communities affected by conflict or disaster through coaching, organized sports, and physical activities that promote physical and mental well-being, build resilience and hope, and strengthen community cohesion in resource-constrained settings.
Description
Movement in Refuge is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting displaced populations through the transformative power of sports and recreation. Recognizing the healing and unifying potential of play, Movement in Refuge creates safe, inclusive spaces where refugee children and youth can engage in physical activity, rebuild confidence, and foster a sense of community. Sports programs serve not only as a form of psychosocial support but also as a critical tool for social integration, leadership development, and emotional recovery.
From organizing football tournaments in refugee camps to facilitating dance and yoga workshops for youth affected by displacement, Movement in Refuge offers diverse recreational opportunities that promote physical health and mental well-being. These programs are designed to empower participants with teamwork skills, discipline, and joy in the face of adversity. Volunteers are at the heart of these efforts-coaching, mentoring, and helping to plan engaging activities that bring hope and normalcy to communities uprooted by crisis. Join us in using the power of play to change lives.
