Are you experienced with QuickBooks and passionate about supporting inclusive communities? Embrace Abilities-a small but growing 501(c)(3) nonprofit-would love your help! About Us:
We serve children, teens, and young adults with different abilities (ages 3-21) and their families along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Our mission is to empower, connect, and include everyone through free, accessible programs, advocacy, and peer support. What We Need:
We’re seeking a volunteer with solid QuickBooks experience to help us review and monitor our bookkeeping records. Our Executive Director (who is also a bookkeeper by trade) keeps everything organized with documentation attached to every transaction, but since she also handles most transactions, we want to ensure ethical best practices and a second set of eyes on our finances. Your Role:

  • Review and monitor QuickBooks transactions and reports (monthly or quarterly)
  • Double-check that all documentation is attached and records are audit-ready
  • Help us maintain transparency and compliance for future funding and reporting needs
  • Advise on best practices for small nonprofit bookkeeping
What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online or Desktop
  • Background in bookkeeping, accounting, or nonprofit finance is a plus
  • Detail-oriented and trustworthy
  • Able to volunteer a few hours per month (flexible schedule; remote is fine!)
Why Volunteer With Us?
  • Make a real difference for families of children, teens, and young adults with different abilities
  • Flexible, remote work-perfect for someone looking to give back on their own schedule
  • Be part of a supportive, mission-driven team
How to Apply:
If you’re interested, please email your resume and a brief summary of your experience to b.lee@embraceabilitiesms.org. We’d love to connect and tell you more about our mission!

Mission Statement

At Embrace Abilities, our mission is to foster meaningful connections and empower families of children and young adults with different abilities. We are committed to supporting the whole family through inclusive opportunities where individuals ages 3 to 21, their siblings, and caregivers feel valued, supported, and celebrated. Through free programs, community engagement, and tailored resources, we aim to bridge gaps in support and build a stronger, more inclusive community for all. We envision a future where families of children and young adults with different abilities thrive together in an inclusive and supportive environment. We believe in a world where diversity is embraced, every family member is empowered, and communities come together to ensure each individual has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Description

Embrace Abilities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, founded by Bridgett Lee in 2024. Inspired by lived experience, we’re dedicated to creating inclusive spaces where children, young adults, and families with different abilities feel valued and supported. We offer whole-family support through free, community-driven programs that foster confidence, independence, and meaningful connections. Our active programs include:

  • Structured Monthly Indoor Events: Inclusive gatherings for socialization, play, and connection.
  • Parent-Led Park Meetups: Outdoor activities encouraging engagement and community.
  • Birthday Buddies Club: Monthly celebrations to honor each participant’s special day.
  • Coffee with Caregivers: Quarterly sessions for parents and caregivers to connect and share support.
  • Sibshops: Activities for siblings to build friendships and share experiences.
  • Sensory Toolkits & Lending Library: Access to sensory supports for use at events.
Our values are inclusion, equal access, health, and community-driven support. We welcome children, young adults, siblings, caregivers, and professionals to help build a stronger, more inclusive Gulf Coast community. All programs are free, and donations are tax-deductible.
