Getting mail, a quick phone call to check in, a person to talk to, someone to hold a hand when the day is long. This is what volunteers do, remotely or in person they bring the connection, care and compassion to our patients on their end of life journey.
If you have just an hour or two a week or a month you can make someones day better in your spare time. We can train you in everything you need to know, supply you with anything you need. The scheduling is flexible and we work with your schedule. For remote roles you need to be 16 with parents permission and for in-person non-medical roles you need to be 18. You also need a background check and be in the US.
Do you have a favorite hobby, musical talent, a love of reading? These are all things you can share or maybe you like to knit, crochet or quilt? Our patients can always use shawls, modesty blankets, lap quilts and many other things. Do you have a therapy pet, our patients love visits from certfied therapy pets. Have a talent we don't know about? I am sure we can find a connection with a similar love.
To start the process just respond to this ad and I can get you started. It takes about 2 weeks to get rolling. My name is Kris and I am the rgional volunteer coordinator. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Amedisys Hospice Care is defined by its mission: To affirm life during its final stages by providing holistic compassionate care to patients and their families; by providing access to hospice care for underserved or difficult to serve populations; by wise and efficient use of available resources, and by educating the community in order to provide them with knowledge regarding end-of-life and hospice care around quality of life.
Description
For patients on hospice care, volunteers play an essential role. Whether they’re simply being present with a patient or helping behind the scenes, volunteers help create trusting bonds and meaningful memories for hospice patients and their loved ones. Just as volunteers are important to hospice patients, hospice patients make service work rewarding for volunteers. Hospice volunteers provide comfort, compassion and care for people as they near the end of life.
