ORGANIZATION: Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group

Join Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group on the King County Parks-owned West Sammamish River Trail to restore Chinook salmon habitat and support Southern Resdient Killer Whales!

We will spend the event time doing maintenance activities in our 2-acre Sammamish River restoration site in Woodinville. This will include weeding a variety of invasive species and freeing young native plantings so they can thrive during this growing season. Maintenance is a really important task during the summer season and we appreciate the help volunteers like you bring!

Upon signing up you will receive a confirmation email. On July 30th, the Wednesday before the event, Molly, Mid Sound Fisheries Stewardship Coordinator, will send a reminder email with event logistics on site access, what to pack, and all other necessary information.

***If you are under 18 and attending without a parent/ guardian and this is your first Mid Sound event you've volunteered at, please print and fill out the King County Parks Youth Waiver Form attached to Molly's Wednesday email and bring it with you to the event!***

Mission Statement

Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group works to involve local people in projects that will ensure a future for wild salmon.

Description

Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group is dedicated to helping landowners and communities protect their local fish. We practice fisheries and stream restoration in the King and Kitsap Counties in Washington State. Our service area includes the Green/Duwamish River watershed, the Lake Washington/Cedar River watershed, isolated streams flowing into Puget Sound in King County, and all watersheds in eastern Kitsap County. We use habitat restoration projects - such as streamside fencing, native tree planting, and fish passage improvements - as catalysts to building community partnerships. As one of 14 Regional Fisheries Enhancement Groups in Washington State, we are part of a coordinated effort to restore fish habitat in the state.
