Do you enjoy live performance and have an ear for timing? Starbird Theater is seeking a volunteer Sound Operator to help run the soundboard during tech and performances. This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience with live theater and work closely with a passionate, supportive team.
As the Sound Operator, you’ll work with the Sound Designer and Director to:
Learn the sound cues for the show
Attend the tech rehearsal and dress rehearsal (typically after 5 PM or on weekends)
Run the soundboard during live performances, following a cue sheet or script
No formal experience is required-we’re happy to train you! If you have any experience with running sound or working backstage, even better. All we ask is that you're dependable, communicative, and available for:
Tech/Dress Rehearsals
All scheduled performances (typically 3-6 per production over one or two weekends)
We produce three mainstage plays per year, so you can sign up for one show or stay involved throughout the season.
If you enjoy working behind the scenes, have good timing, and want to be part of a welcoming theater community, we’d love to hear from you!
