If you have been to the garden, you may have noticed the beautifully detailed, hand-laid mosaic tile that flows throughout the entire garden. Each stone was carefully put into the mosaic by Chinese artisans from our sister city, Suzhou, China. Each mosaic in the garden has a different meaningful design with cultural significance, it is quite a site to see. This year, we are celebrating our 25th anniversary, and in preparation for that, we are inviting volunteer groups from our community to assist with the special & historic task of revitalizing the mosaic to bring it back to its original state!
We are looking for volunteer groups to come in the morning, on a regular basis or open to group availability. We can host a max of 10 volunteers per volunteer group.

Description
Lan Su Chinese Garden is one of Portland's treasures - a powerfully inspiring experience that takes you through time, offering a window into Chinese culture, history, and way of thinking. Opened in 2000, Lan Su is an authentic Suzhou-style classical Chinese garden with over 300 species of Chinese cultivar plants. Architecture, stone, water, and poetry complete the garden. Built with materials directly from China by Chinese garden designers and artisans, it is an oasis of nature and tranquility in the midst of the city. Lan Su is open 7 days a week for visitors to enjoy. Join our volunteer team committed to creating memorable experiences for our visitors.

- This is a Done in a Day opportunity and there is no prior training or ongoing commitment needed.
- Must be at least 18
- Shifts are 2 hours long
- Mosaic cleaning will require kneeling, bending, and stooping for an extended period time, and the ability to scrub and utilize brushes, sponges, or other mosaic cleaning tools. Must be over 18.
