About Share My Meals

Founded in January 2020, Share My Meals is a nonprofit organization active across New Jersey, dedicated to addressing food insecurity and the environmental impact of food waste by safely recovering and delivering healthy prepared meals to local communities. As we continue to grow and expand our impact, we are updating our website to better reflect our mission, programs, and partners.

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled WordPress Developer to support the technical implementation of our updated website, which is built on Elementor for the WordPress platform. You will collaborate with our website consultant and graphic designer to bring a newly developed design and structure to life, ensuring the site is fully responsive, accessible, SEO-optimized, and easy for our internal team to manage going forward.

Responsibilities
  • Implement updated website designs using WordPress and the Elementor components based on approved mockups and wireframes.

  • Collaborate with the website consultant and graphic designer to translate visual concepts into functional pages.

  • Ensure mobile responsiveness, browser compatibility, and overall website performance.

  • Integrate basic third-party tools (newsletter sign-up, donation page, etc.).

  • Optimize site for SEO and page load speed.

  • Provide user training or documentation for the Share My Meals team to manage and update the site post-launch.

  • Troubleshoot issues and perform QA testing before launch.

Qualifications
  • Experience building and customizing WordPress websites

  • Experience using Elementor for WordPress creation platform desired.

  • Strong understanding of responsive design, UX/UI best practices, and accessibility standards (WCAG).

  • Experience integrating third-party tools and plugins (e.g., donation platforms, CRMs, forms).

  • Familiarity with performance optimization and SEO fundamentals.

  • Detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Nice to Have
  • Experience working with nonprofits.

  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS and JavaScript for custom tweaks if needed.

Description

Share My Meals is a NJ-based nonprofit organization that fights both food insecurity and the environmental impact of food waste by recovering and delivering healthy meals to the local community. Working with its local partners, Share My Meals addresses both of these critical issues at once with a unique, tech-enabled model that recovers healthful, prepared meals, and delivers them to families in need. We collect balanced meals made from surplus prepared foods from commercial food service providers and distribute them directly to the homes of families and non-profit organizations, leveraging volunteers and technical solutions to create a seamless, sustainable model.
