Position Summary:

The Volunteer Engagement Intern will support the hospice's mission by assisting the Volunteer Engagement team in the recruitment, onboarding, coordination, and recognition of hospice volunteers.

This role provides a meaningful opportunity to gain hands-on experience in program management, volunteer program management, and community engagement while contributing to compassionate end-of-life care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development and implementation of volunteer recruitment strategies, including creating content for social media, newsletters, and local outreach.

• Learn to design and implement outreach strategies that attract and engage diverse volunteers from the community.

• Help coordinate and schedule volunteer interviews, orientations, and trainings.

• Support the tracking and management of volunteer onboarding including applications, background checks, and required documentation.

• Assist in planning and executing volunteer appreciation events and recognition efforts.

• Assist with volunteer placement.

• Maintain accurate volunteer records.

• Help gather and organize volunteer feedback through surveys or informal check-ins.

• Participate in weekly team meetings and contribute ideas to enhance volunteer engagement.

• Perform general administrative tasks to support the team.

• Assist with patient companionship or help with facility-based tasks, supporting our mission of care firsthand.

Qualifications:

• Must be available to commit to 5-10 hours.

• Currently enrolled student or recent graduate from any field of study with an interest in community engagement, volunteerism, hospice or nonprofit work.

• Passion for community service and hospice care.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills .

• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.

• Comfortable working with confidential information and demonstrating empathy and discretion.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

• Experience in volunteer coordination or community outreach is a bonus.
