In this role you'll welcome individuals and groups to Outdoor Chattanooga’s front desk. The Philip Grimes Outdoor Chattanooga building is the fun, blue office space nestled in between the North Shore and Coolidge Park. Visitors may be locals or tourists and vary in ages and demographics. The building is home to Outdoor Chattanooga staff as well as some of the City's Department of Parks and Outdoors Department. The building also serves as a meeting place for events with ties to our greater mission as well as programs and other fun happenings.
Tasks may include:
- Provide information about the Chattanooga region’s vast outdoor spaces to locals and visitors operating as an extension of Chattanooga’s tourism team, providing general information on transportation, restaurants, hotels, local attractions, events, etc.
- Support some administrative requests depending on expertise and interests. Examples include editing documents, supporting communication needs, developing and distributing marketing materials
- Set-up / take down of event space
- Restock / tidy brochures area and general front desk space
- Answer phones and direct calls
A positive attitude and willingness to learn are great attributes to bring to this role. General skills in customer service, supporting a welcoming environment, dependability and knowledge of Chattanooga and/or outdoor recreation activities is helpful.
No specific experience with answering phones, outdoor recreation, or technical expertise is needed.
There is a minimum of one, 3-hour shift per month. Preference for a weekly commitment of one, 3-hour shift when possible. Shifts include Monday through Friday 9 - noon, 11- 2pm, and 1-4pm.
