This volunteer will need to attend a 90-minute orientation as well as meeting with the KLC Volunteer and Internship Coordinator to go over this specific role. The class follows a provided curriculum that covers computer basics, starting with turning the computer on and continuing all the way to using Google Suite. Level 1 meets from 11:30am-12:30pm on Wednesdays, Level 2 meets on Tuesdays from 2:00pm-3:00pm at the Kalamazoo Literacy Council in the Goodwill building.

Description
The Kalamazoo Literacy Council (KLC) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit volunteer tutor organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of adults who struggle to read. The Kalamazoo Literacy Council offers free one-on-one programs designed to develop reading, writing and spelling skills. Our goal is to also educate the public about the crisis of illiteracy and bring together a community with a common goal of making Kalamazoo County 100 percent literate. The KLC is the only organization in Kalamazoo County exclusively providing free basic literacy instruction to adults.
We serve native English speakers and English Language Learners with tutoring and classes in Parent Literacy, Health Literacy, Citizenship, Writing, Computers, and more. Volunteer roles include reading tutor, classroom instructors, and classroom assistants. No experience is necessary; we provide online training, all curriculum and ongoing support. Volunteer in person or online. This is an exciting opportunity to help change the lives of adults in the community!
