Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven volunteer Treasurer/Bookkeeper to join our Board of Directors or serve in an advisory capacity. The ideal candidate will have a background in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping and a passion for global development. Your role will help ensure our financial practices remain strong, transparent, and aligned with our growth.
Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and donor contributions
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for leadership and board review
Support annual budget planning and cash flow tracking
Oversee proper categorization of expenses and adherence to grant requirements
Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial standards and IRS requirements (e.g. 990)
Work with leadership to improve financial systems and recommend best practices
Qualifications:
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Prior nonprofit financial management or bookkeeping experience preferred
Proficiency with financial tools such as QuickBooks, Excel, or other accounting software
Strong attention to detail, integrity, and discretion
Ability to work independently with flexible hours
Passion for community development and global impact

Impact Sierra Leone is a US Based non-profit organization run primarily by volunteers in the United States and West Africa. We work within the framework of the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals to achieve less hunger, gender equality and health, wellness and nutrition. Our primary focus is on empowering young children (especially young girls) with the tools necessary to set them up for success through education, promoting good nutrition, mentorship and vocational training.
