Regional Director (Volunteer) - The Mirror Effects
Organization Overview
The Mirror Effects is a youth‑led national nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to legal education, civic engagement, and immigrant empowerment for high school students. We equip student‑led chapters with the training, resources, and network needed to launch workshops, speaker series, and community projects in every U.S. state.
Position Description
We are seeking six Regional Directors to oversee chapter development and programming across the Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest regions, as well as two At‑Large Directors for North and South. This is a fully remote, unpaid volunteer role that offers leadership experience, community service hours, and national recognition.
Key Responsibilities
Recruit, onboard, and mentor chapter presidents in your assigned states
Design and implement region‑specific civic education and legal empowerment initiatives
Facilitate monthly check‑ins, training sessions, and strategy calls with chapter leaders
Guide chapters in fundraising, budgeting, and grant‑writing
Collect and submit monthly reports on activities, milestones, challenges, and finances
Partner with At‑Large Directors on multi‑state projects and organizational strategy
Qualifications
Currently a high school student (Grades 10-12) or first‑year college student residing in the U.S.
Passion for legal education, civic engagement, or immigrant justice
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Comfortable with digital collaboration tools (email, Zoom, Google Workspace)
Ability to commit 3-5 hours per week
Experience leading or organizing student groups or advocacy efforts (preferred)
Time Commitment & Compensation
3-5 hours per week, flexible scheduling
This is a volunteer position; no financial compensation
