Virtual Hospitals Africa (VHA) is building a continent-wide digital health platform to connect hospitals, clinics, health workers, and patients-especially in underserved communities. Backed by ministries of health, academic partners, and medical professionals, VHA is pioneering a new kind of care delivery system grounded in technology, accessibility, and equity.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead development of the platform’s web experience. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in early-stage environments, enjoys technical ownership, and wants to work on systems that make a real-world impact.

Your Role:

1. Build responsive, reliable web apps using Fresh and Deno
2. Lead frontend and Backend architecture and ensure clean, scalable TypeScript code
3. Integrate Google APIs, WhatsApp, and other services into core user flows
4. Collaborate with clinical, research, and engineering teams across the Globe.
5. Shape features with direct input from frontline health workers

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years experience in modern web development
• Strong in TypeScript, component-based architecture, and clean code practices
• Familiarity with or willingness to adopt Deno and Fresh
• Experience integrating external APIs (especially messaging and cloud services)
• Ability to design for low-bandwidth environments
