Do you have a passion for visual storytelling? Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is looking for a Volunteer Photographer to capture its most unique features!
Volunteer Photographers will have the opportunity to document Whiskeytown's natural beauty through scenic shots of the landscape and wildlife. Volunteer Photographers will also be assigned to highlight various park operations, Whiskeytown staff and volunteers, and park-wide events!
Volunteer Duties:
- Photographing wildlife, plants, scenic areas, people, and park programs.
- Volunteer will submit photographs to Supervisor monthly.
Equipment & Vehicles:
- Volunteer will be required to operate their personal vehicle to arrive at duty site.
- Volunteer will be required to provide their own photography equipment.
Length of Service: Position will be year-round with duties changing as seasons and weather permits. Volunteer is expected to submit at least 10 quality photos per month of at least 2 different subjects. Volunteer will choose their own set schedule. Volunteer's attendance will be requested for events in advance.
Lodging: Please note that housing is not available for this position.
Location:
Within Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, as well as possible offsite locations when assisting park staff with programs, events, or presentations. Locations will be determined by the volunteer relative to the subject being photographed.
Qualifications:
- Experience with photography.
- Willingness to share photographs with the park for internal and external use.
- Ability to use sound judgement in making safe decisions while traversing Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.
Uniform:
The position is uniformed. Volunteer will wear standard VIP uniform as described in the volunteer handbook.
Job Hazards:
· Slips, trips, and falls.
· Adverse weather conditions (heat, sun exposure, thunderstorms, snow).
· Environmental hazards (standing snags, falling tree limbs, poison oak, wildlife/insect bites and stings, etc.).
