Build Hope, Inc. is hosting our 13th annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony to honor the incredible achievements of student scholars from HACLA communities and we need your help!
We’re looking for friendly, organized volunteers to assist with event setup and breakdown, guest/scholar check-in, ushering, crowd management, and light coordination throughout the day. This is a great opportunity to support a meaningful community event and be part of a joyful celebration of education and opportunity.
Volunteer Roles Include:
- Event setup and signage placement
- Greeting and checking in guests
- Ushering guests to photo opp/seats and helping maintain flow
- Supporting BHI staff with light tasks throughout the event
- Event breakdown/cleanup assistance
Event Details:
Date: July 12, 2025
Time Commitment: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (lunch included)
Location: Cal State LA
Requirements:
- Must be 18+
- Comfortable interacting with community members and youth
- Reliable and punctual
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required

Description
Build Hope, Inc. was created under the name Kids Progress Inc. ("KPI") in 2002 by the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles ("HACLA") to ensure that low-income residents living in HACLA’s properties or receiving Section 8 assistance receive the full social, health, educational and work opportunities to which they are entitled, and to enhance quality of life through long-term academic and economic success.
BHI is committed to serving as a central coordinating entity, mobilizing a diverse network of partner organizations to collectively tackle urgent issues affecting the overall health of HACLA residents. Through direct programming, strategic partnerships, and innovative pilot programs, BHI will advance economic equity and overall well-being of HACLA communities.
