Who We Are

Human Rights Research Center (HRRC) is an established nonprofit start-up that brings a multidisciplinary approach to human rights and seeks to bridge the gap between academic research and the wider public. We educate through facts, advocate using our research findings, and take action to implement change.

We’re looking for a creative, strategic, and socially conscious volunteer Social Media Engagement Coordinator to help us build a vibrant, engaged community online. This role is ideal for someone passionate about human rights and skilled at using social media platforms to foster conversation, grow awareness, and amplify advocacy.

What You’ll Do

· Execute and manage daily social media posts across platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky).

· Engage with followers by responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and respectful manner.

· Monitor and join relevant conversations, hashtags, and trends to amplify our voice.

· Work closely with the Content Manager to align content with campaigns, events, and research findings.

· Create or collaborate on multimedia content such as quote cards, reels, and infographics.

· Track engagement metrics and generate monthly insights to inform strategy.

Qualifications

· Experience managing or contributing to social media accounts for a cause, brand, or organization.

· Strong writing and communication skills with a good sense of digital tone and audience engagement.

· Familiarity with best practices for social media growth, algorithms, and analytics.

· Passion for social justice, human rights, and ethical storytelling.

· Basic graphic design or Canva skills a plus but not required.

· Organized, self-motivated, and responsive to feedback.

Compensation and Commitment

This is a volunteer, virtual opportunity with the expectation of 5-10 hours of work per week. At least a six-month time commitment is required.

Description

Human Rights Research Center (HRRC) is a newly-established start-up in the nonprofit human rights field. Our goals are to provide the facts on pressing human rights issues in a way anyone can understand and to advocate for change using these findings. As most start-ups, we currently rely on volunteers to move us forward. We are in need of researchers, fundraisers, editors, social media and communications support, and people interested in leading our advocacy efforts.
