Kids Hope Mentor

ORGANIZATION: Volunteers in Action

  • Spots available: 10+

A Kids Hope mentor spends one hour once a week during the school year with an elementary-age child at a local public school in Englewood. We are looking for mentors to sign up and get trained this summer so that they can be matched with a child for the fall 2025 semester. Research tells us that a child's future is shaped by stable, caring relationships with adults. For many Kids Hope students, their mentor becomes one of the constants in their world. And through the power of that relationship, hope and resilience are nurtured.

About Volunteers in Action

Location:

P.O. Box 100253, Denver, CO 80250, US

Mission Statement

Volunteers in Action exists to foster the flourishing of our community by loving our neighbors in the name of Jesus. We do this by inspiring hope through supportive one-on-one relationships. Our strategic anchors are: We serve with the lens of transformation. We lead with one-on-one relationships. We equip churches for service and neighboring.

Description

Volunteers in Action has existed in the Denver area since 1985. We match volunteers with people in our community who need a supportive relationship. Our Caring Connections program matches a volunteer with an adult in need. The time they spend together could include grocery shopping, reading mail, going for a walk, playing a game, or simply visiting. The commitment is one hour every week or a couple of times a month. Our Kids Hope USA program matches a volunteer with a child in a local public school for one-on-one mentoring. The commitment is one hour, once a week during the school year. We believe that supportive one-on-one relationships inspire hope for both individuals involved - the volunteer and the friend. And hope is a powerful catalyst for a flourishing community.
