Make someone's day by just being there.
Loneliness is never easy to bear. But it can be especially challenging when you are in a nursing a facility and have no family that lives nearby. This is sometimes the case with hospice patients.
And your presence. Your willingness to visit them, sit with them, or lend a listening ear can make all the difference.
At Baptist Hospice, we are looking for caring volunteers in the Winona and Vaiden areas who are willing to give the most powerful thing they have: their time and presence.
DO YOU ENJOY CARING FOR OR CONNECTING WITH OLDER ADULTS?
Baptist Hospice is seeking caring and dependable volunteers to visit patients living in local nursing homes in the Winona and Vaiden, MS areas. Your presence can bring joy, peace, and dignity to someone in their final season of life.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Visit patients in nursing homes for conversation, prayer, reading or simply quiet companionship.
- Offer a comforting presence to those who may not have frequent visitors.
- Work alongside our caring hospice team to support the emotional and spiritual needs of patients.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Compassionate individuals with a heart for seniors and those facing serious illness.
- Good listeners who are dependable and respectful.
- Volunteers age 18+ (training and background check required)
This role is deeply meaningful - but may not always be busy. Some days may be quiet. Some visits may be brief. But each one matters.

We are looking for caring people in the community to become volunteers and to help support our patients and staff both in our Batesville office doing administrative work and also in visiting patients and their families either in their homes or in a facility.
As a Baptist Hospice Volunteer, you can choose the type of volunteer work that you are the most comfortable with.
