Volunteer/Temporary Role

Overview: Independent Living Housing, Inc. (ILH) is seeking a Walkathon Event Coordinator to lead the planning and execution of our upcoming Walkathon on September 27th. This event will raise awareness and funds to support housing, financial literacy, and education for underserved communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the event timeline, logistics, and planning efforts.

  • Identify and secure sponsorships and donations from local businesses and organizations.

  • Recruit and manage a team of volunteers to assist with marketing, registration, setup, and event-day operations.

  • Collaborate with ILH leadership to ensure alignment with the organization’s mission and goals.

  • Create promotional materials and engage with community stakeholders to maximize participation.

  • Ensure all necessary permits and compliance measures are met.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.

  • Experience in event planning, fundraising, or nonprofit initiatives.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and foster partnerships with sponsors and volunteers.

  • Passion for community development and ILH’s mission.

Time Commitment: This is a volunteer role with flexible hours leading up to the Walkathon. The role will require dedicated planning efforts leading up to September 27th and availability on the event day. I think to well plan, get sponsorships advertise, get marketing materials, should required 10 hours per week.

Description

OUR PROGRAM ILH developed the Todays Youth program to enhance the self-esteem and teach life skills to youth and young adults who are learning-disabled and developmentally challenged. Youth with learning disabilities can lead enriched lives when they are in an environment that builds their self-confidence and skills. The self-esteem workshops and after-school tutorials are designed to help youth build positive self-esteem; identify emotional spirals; understand and apply effective conflict resolution; improve their proficiency in reading, writing, math, science, computer and study skills; and prepare them for reading and MEAP testing.
