Do you love combining creativity with meaningful impact? The American Red Cross is looking for a talented volunteer to help transform a successful in-person nursing education experience into an engaging virtual escape room and interactive course exercises.

This innovative program introduces nursing students to the critical role nurses play during disasters. Originally developed using paper handouts and in-person facilitation, the course is now going virtual - and that’s where you come in!

You’ll work with a passionate team to adapt and evolve this award-winning course (recipient of the 2023 Susan Hassmiller Award), using digital platforms and creative design to deliver an immersive virtual learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our course development team to refine strategy and content for interactive elements.

  • Recommend and help implement the best digital tools for virtual escape room-style learning.

  • Design and test online escape room challenges and group activities.

  • Create clear documentation and instructions for facilitators and participants.

  • Support initial pilot sessions to ensure smooth delivery.

Ideal Skills:

  • Experience with interactive or game-based learning design.

  • Technical skills in building online games or puzzles (escape rooms preferred).

  • Creative mindset with a flair for engaging visual or multimedia content.

  • Bonus: Knowledge of instructional design or education technology.

Time Commitment:
We’re looking for someone who can dedicate at least 10-15 hours per week over several weeks as the project gets off the ground.

Why This Matters:
You’ll be helping future nurses understand the vital role they can play during emergencies - while making the learning fun, memorable, and scalable across the country.
