Enjoy music, food trucks, and activities while soaking up the last moments of summer at Amazement Square’s Annual Riverfront Chalk Festival & Art Contest! Artists of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities are invited to register for the Chalk Art Contest and compete to win a cash prize, with the highest award being $1,000! The Festival is FREE to attend! Volunteers for this event can either come to the museum the day before or the day of the festival to help us prepare for and facilitate the event. The day before, Friday the 22nd, we will be cleaning and preparing the parking lot from 4pm-about 7pm. Those volunteering during the festival, which takes place from 10am-2pm on the 23rd, will assist with setup and our activity stations. Anyone interested in assisting on both days is more than welcome.

AMAZEMENT SQUARE CULTIVATES AN ENGAGED COMMUNITY OF LIFELONG LEARNERS BY SPARKING IMAGINATION, CREATIVITY, AND CURIOSITY.

Description

As a Children’s Interactive Museum, we focus on interacting and working with children through various exhibits, programs, and events. We are also a certified Autism Center!

Museum Educators: Exhibit educators work with Museum Educators to help museum visitors explore and understand hands-on, interactive exhibits in eight multidisciplinary galleries.

Exhibit Maintenance: Duties may include cleaning exhibit environments, touch-up painting, or skilled exhibit fabrication. Basic art skills are required due to paint touch-ups and other art-related projects. Shifts are available Monday and Tuesday from 9 am- 5 pm.

Special Event: Special events volunteers participate in the museum’s outreach, educational, or fundraising events such as the Museum After Dark, Amazing Mile Children’s Run, Ugly Bug Ball, and Children’s Holiday Festival.

Museum Shop Volunteer: Museum shop volunteers will assist the shop manager in keeping everything stocked and organized, assist guests with purchases from finding products to meet their needs to check them out at the register.

Facilities: Facilities entails painting, staining, cleaning, setting up and tearing down from rentals, organizing facilities-related inventory, landscape care (weeds, branches, snow), and moving facilities-related items to and from storage.
