Join the mission at Wayside Cross Ministries and become a beacon of hope for those rebuilding their lives in a Biblical setting. We have six different ministries in Aurora and Elgin including prison ministry, a men's recovery center, a women and children's recovery center, an urban youth ministry, a work skills program, and a homeless day center.

As a volunteer you can help prepare a meal, teach a life skills class, sort goods in our warehouse or thrift stores, mentor, perform administrative tasks, join in a prison visit, or help with administrative tasks. Step in, serve, and see the impact of love in action.

Mission Statement

Wayside Cross Ministries exists to transform the lives of men, women, and children in crisis by sharing the hope of Jesus Christ, providing essential care, and equipping each person with the tools for lifelong restoration and community impact.

Description

Wayside Cross Ministries is a Christ-centered nonprofit organization based in Aurora, Illinois, dedicated to transforming the lives of those facing homelessness, addiction, poverty, and despair. Since 1928, we have served as a place of refuge and renewal, offering comprehensive recovery programs, transitional housing, life-skills training, and spiritual guidance.

Through six distinct ministries - Master’s Touch (for men), Lifespring (for women and children), Urban Youth Ministry, Hope Outreach, New Life Corrections, and Elgin Wayside Center - we walk alongside individuals and families on their journey toward restoration, self-sufficiency, and a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

At Wayside, we believe lasting change is possible when physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are met with compassion, accountability, and hope.
