At Comfort Care Hospice, we believe presence is medicine.
You don’t need to come with answers. Just a warm heart, a calm presence, and the kind of spirit that makes people feel safe just by being nearby.
As a companion volunteer, you’ll visit patients nearing the end of life-mostly older adults, many with memory loss or dementia. Some might speak in circles. Others may say nothing at all. But every visit is a reminder: even when words fade, connection remains.
You might hold a hand while soft music plays. Flip through photo albums. Sit quietly while someone sleeps. The moments are small, but the impact is enormous. You’ll become part of a sacred chapter in someone’s story.
We’re not looking for perfect. We’re looking for present. For kind. For compassionate. For someone who shows up-because that, alone, is extraordinary.
You should be:
- 18 or older
- Emotionally grounded (no recent major personal loss)
- Available weekly or biweekly
- Comfortable with stillness, repetition, and the beauty of quiet care
We train. We support. We welcome you like family.
We know this kind of work isn’t for everyone.
But if something in you feels drawn to it-we’d love to meet you.
Send us any questions you may have to mary.pollok@cc-hospice.com. We care.
