Drivers are Volunteers who help plate meals, deliver meals, and build relationships with our clients. These Volunteers are essential in making connections with the people we serve. Sometimes, our Drivers may be the only person clients interact with all day. All MOW Volunteers are required to go through a short orientation before they officially begin serving.

We serve the cities of Port Arthur (including Port Acres), Groves, Port Neches, Nederland, and Beauxart Garden. MOW provides nutritious meals on Tuesdays and Fridays while also combatting social isolation and addressing safety concerns observed during deliveries, ensuring our clients receive essential care. UBM partners with The Temple to make MOW happen. The Temple on Tx-73 is where meals are prepared and Drivers collect the meals and disperse from. Drivers commit to serving from 10:15 am to before 12:30pm

UBM's MOW drivers need:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Current Car Insurance
  • A Clean and Reliable Vehicle

We currently need Drivers in multiple Port Arthur routes and potentially our Groves or Port Neches routes.

MOW Drivers do so much more than deliver - they build meaningful connections, offering warmth and a sense of community. Over time, Drivers will get to know their clients and become a valued part of their lives.

If you are interested in driving for MOW please select the link and fill out the form at the bottom of the page, stating that you are interested in volunteering. Or you can call the MOW number at 409-748-9948.

Mission Statement

The United Board of Missions is a local crisis intervention and family assistance organization. A coalition of Mid and South Jefferson County churches and volunteers motivated by the love of God to meet human needs and help them re-establish themselves in life.

Description

Formerly the Center for Christian Services, the United Board of Missions (UBM) of Port Arthur, Texas began as a small outreach in the mid 1960's with the intention of acting against the effects of poverty in Jefferson County, becoming an official entity in 1969. UBM began as a small group of Christians working out of a house and has since grown into a significant non-profit organization, serving thousands in and around Jefferson County. UBM has grown to include eight different programs to support families and individuals, and continues to expand, including a partnership with the Y to provide after-hours childcare for parents who work outside standard hours. Our programs include, but are not limited to, Meals on Wheels (serving meals to seniors and homebound individuals in our communities), In-House Food Pantry (food assistance for individuals and families who need help getting groceries), and Emergency Services (assisting individuals with utility bill support). There are serving opportunities for many different callings and strengths. Volunteers play a vital role in our mission, and there are countless ways to lend a helping hand, whether through meal deliveries, food distribution, or community outreach.
