With an average of 1.7 billion hectares of treeless land across the planet where trees could be planted, ecological restoration is the top climate-change solution and Sustinere is working to plant 4 billion trees by 2030 to combat climate change and loss of biodiversity.

Sustinere is looking for an exceptional Climate Finance Researcher, with strong research, organizational and communication skills. The candidate will have a unique opportunity to stimulate private sector funding and individual investments by helping design an innovative model for managing climate investments for projects in Canada and South America (Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Guatemala), and to actively contribute to reforestation efforts in the Boreal Forest and the Amazon Forest.

As a volunteer, you will:

- Research and create a database of individual investors with potential interest in climate finance.

- Develop a template for the organization's climate finance strategy.

- Support in writing proposals, applications and letters of inquiry to private investors for environmental and reforestation programs.

- Expand Sustinere's revenue pipeline through prospect identification, research, and strategic outreach.

- Update the database of funders and prospects and ensure accuracy in the recording of funder histories, activities and profiles.

- Train Sustinere staff in understanding the new climate finance model.

Essential Professional Background:

- At least 1 year experience with fund sourcing, proposal research, and development.

- Understanding of the non-profit funder landscape and processes.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills; the ability to take initiative, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, problem solve, and work as part of a (remote) team.

- Flexible and adaptable when faced with challenges and/or new opportunities; you take a solutions-based and collaborative approach to unexpected challenges.

- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
