About Steven’s Wings

Steven’s Wings: Global Youth Adventures is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that funds international travel experiences for underserved youth. Founded in memory of Steven Wilkes, a Philadelphia nurse and Desert Storm veteran, our mission is to unlock the potential of young people through the power of global exploration. Each year, we partner with AFS to fully fund 3 students to travel abroad and experience life beyond their borders.

What is the Ambassador Circle?

The Ambassador Circle is a select group of trusted supporters who serve as advisors, advocates, and champions of our mission. This is a non-governing, non-fiduciary role-ideal for individuals who believe in our work and want to help expand our reach, fundraising, and visibility.

What Ambassadors Do

Ambassadors commit to supporting Steven’s Wings in one or more of the following areas:

  • Advocacy:
    Share our mission within your personal and professional networks

  • Fundraising Support:
    Help raise funds by inviting donors, sharing our campaign, or hosting virtual giving drives

  • Student Referrals:
    Recommend eligible students and assist with local outreach

  • Storytelling:
    Help tell the story-collect testimonials, co-host virtual events, or serve as a "guest voice" in our digital content

  • Quarterly Check-Ins:
    Attend short virtual updates to stay connected with impact and goals

Time Commitment

  • Flexible and remote

  • Average 1-3 hours/month (depending on involvement)

  • Quarterly virtual update calls

Description

Steven's Wings is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering underserved youth through transformative travel experiences. Founded in honor of Steven, our organization aims to provide opportunities for young people to explore the world, discover new cultures, and gain valuable life skills. Our programs include the Passport Discovery Initiative, which provides passports to underserved youth, and the Global Explorer Program, which offers fully funded trips to destinations around the world. Since our inception, we have welcomed numerous volunteers who have contributed to our mission of creating a more connected and compassionate world. Join us in making a difference in the lives of youth and fostering global citizenship.
