Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Volunteer Development Coordinator to support our fundraising and grant development efforts. This volunteer will play a key role in identifying potential funding opportunities, researching grantmakers that align with our mission, and helping to build a foundation for sustainable growth. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit development, fundraising strategy, or learning how to write grants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research prospective foundations, corporate sponsors, and government funders that align with Grand Expectations' mission and programs.
  • Compile detailed funder profiles, including application timelines, eligibility criteria, contact information, and giving history.
  • Gather relevant data on community needs and local statistics to strengthen future proposals.
  • Track deadlines, proposal requirements, and progress using shared tools or spreadsheets.
  • Support the creation of grant-ready language by organizing program descriptions, past impact, and financial data.
  • Optional: Learn and participate in writing portions of grant applications under staff guidance.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Research and organizational skills.
  • Good written communication.
  • Interest in nonprofit development, social justice, or economic equity.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Prior experience in development or grant writing is a plus-but not required. We’re happy to train and mentor the right volunteer!

Founded in Atlanta in 2021, we provide direct support through emergency financial assistance, life skills education, mentorship, and coaching.
