Almaden Chess is a student-led nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to chess education and local tournaments for all students. Founded in San Jose, we now aim to bring high-quality, affordable chess classes and events to communities across the country. Our high school volunteers serve as instructors, tournament organizers, and chapter leaders, gaining leadership experience while making a meaningful impact. We focus on both fun and fundamentals, helping students build confidence, patience, and strategic thinking through chess

Mission Statement
Our mission is to make chess education accessible, engaging, and community-driven for students of all backgrounds. We strive to provide meaningful leadership and teaching opportunities for high school students, helping them grow as mentors and changemakers. Through local classes and events, we aim to foster critical thinking, resilience, and a love for learning. Ultimately, we believe in using chess as a tool to build stronger, smarter, and more connected communities.
