ORGANIZATION: Youth Ideas at Work

We are seeking a Curriculum Developer to join our program development volunteer team. This is a meaningful opportunity to design experiential learning content that introduces teens to the principles and possibilities of engineering in real-world and future-oriented contexts.

As part of our team, you will develop curriculum materials that nurture problem-solving, innovation, critical thinking, and applied science. Modules may include mechanical systems, electronics, structural engineering, design thinking, robotics, and sustainable technologies. You will also support educators and program managers through training resources, workshops, and implementation support. Additionally, you may evaluate and adapt existing content into interactive, digital formats to enhance engagement and accessibility.

We welcome applicants with all levels of experience. Candidates with a background in engineering, STEM education, or applied sciences will be highly regarded. Experience in teaching, curriculum design, or mentoring students in technical fields is a plus.

Curriculum Developer Duties and Responsibilities - Engineering

  • Define learning objectives that emphasize design thinking, innovation, and real-world application of engineering principles.

  • Develop project-based, modular content that covers core areas such as structures, energy systems, materials science, and prototyping.

  • Design hands-on learning experiences that involve building models, testing solutions, and solving real-world engineering problems.

  • Introduce youth to sustainable engineering practices, technology integration, and ethical engineering.

  • Revise and adapt curriculum to reflect current technologies and industry trends.

  • Convert lessons into digital and multimedia formats (e.g., CAD tools, simulations, videos).

  • Provide training and guidance for educators delivering engineering content.

  • Collaborate with engineers and technical mentors to ensure accuracy and relevance.

  • Inspire students to explore careers in engineering and innovation through experiential learning.
