About Us

Veterans Without Orders (VWO) is a veteran- and first responder-led nonprofit delivering clean water, sanitation training, and humanitarian aid to underserved communities across the globe. We give those who’ve served a new mission-through hands-on, purpose-driven work that changes lives. Our new brand is bold, action-first, and unapologetically mission-focused-and our website needs to reflect that.

Position Summary

We’re looking for a creative, skilled, and mission-aligned Volunteer Web Designer/Developer to help us build a new website that tells our story with impact, drives online donations, and supports long-term growth. This is a chance to help shape how the world sees and supports our work.

What You’ll Do
  • Design and develop a modern, responsive website aligned with VWO’s new branding

  • Create donation-friendly landing pages and compelling storytelling layouts

  • Collaborate with our team to structure content and site navigation

  • Implement best practices for nonprofit UX, SEO, and performance

  • Integrate tools such as GiveButter, Mailchimp, and Google Analytics

  • Build a CMS that is easy for our team to manage post-launch (WordPress or similar)

What We’re Looking For
  • U.S.-based web designer/developer with experience in nonprofit or mission-driven work

  • Strong skills in web design (UI/UX) and front-end development (HTML/CSS/JS)

  • Experience with platforms like WordPress, Squarespace, or Webflow

  • Familiarity with donation platforms and marketing integrations

  • Bonus: graphic design skills, animation, or storytelling experience

  • A sense of humor and a heart for service (we like grit over ego)

What You Get
  • A meaningful portfolio project that helps change lives

  • A front-row seat to a rebrand that’s redefining how humanitarian aid is delivered

  • Recognition on our website and social channels

  • Letters of recommendation and LinkedIn endorsements available upon request

  • The satisfaction of knowing your work helps get clean water and critical support to communities around the world
