ORGANIZATION: Youth Ideas at Work

We are seeking a Curriculum Developer to join our program development volunteer team. This is a meaningful opportunity to design innovative, real-world math learning experiences that empower teens to become confident problem-solvers and analytical thinkers.

As part of our team, you will create curriculum materials that strengthen foundational math skills, connect math to everyday life, and cultivate a mindset of inquiry and exploration. Modules may cover areas such as numeracy, data analysis, financial math, probability, algebra, and applied problem-solving. You’ll support educators and program managers with training materials and workshops, and contribute to the digitization of curriculum for broader reach.

We welcome applicants with all levels of experience. Candidates with backgrounds in math education, STEM, data science, or educational technology are especially encouraged to apply.

Curriculum Developer Duties and Responsibilities - Mathematics

  • Define course objectives that emphasize mathematical reasoning, logical thinking, and real-life application.

  • Design learner-centered, hands-on lessons that promote active learning and collaboration.

  • Develop engaging modules on number operations, algebra, geometry, statistics, and math in everyday decision-making.

  • Incorporate elements of financial literacy, budgeting, and problem-solving in practical contexts.

  • Revise and update curriculum for clarity, inclusiveness, and alignment with modern math standards.

  • Adapt materials into digital formats, such as interactive problem sets, visual aids, and online games.

  • Provide training resources to help educators deliver math content in engaging and relatable ways.

  • Collaborate with STEM professionals and educators to ensure curriculum relevance and accuracy.

  • Empower youth to see math as a powerful tool for understanding the world and solving real-life challenges.
