About Us:
The Cyber Institute is a nonprofit organization focused on advancing cybersecurity and emerging technology policy through research, education, and public engagement. We aim to inform national and global decision-making while building an inclusive community of supporters and scholars.

Role Overview:
The Director of Development is a strategic leadership volunteer role responsible for building and executing the organization’s fundraising and donor engagement efforts. This individual will oversee fundraising campaigns, donor relations, grant development, and membership growth strategies to strengthen financial sustainability and expand our supporter base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals

  • Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, foundations, and partners

  • Identify and pursue grant opportunities in alignment with our mission and programs

  • Guide and support the fundraising team on outreach campaigns and donor communications

  • Collaborate with leadership to build a strong membership and supporter base

  • Track fundraising metrics and prepare regular development reports

  • Ensure consistent and compelling messaging in all donor-facing materials

Qualifications:

  • Experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or grant writing

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Strategic thinking with the ability to lead and manage campaigns

  • Familiarity with donor management tools or CRM systems (a plus)

  • Passion for cybersecurity, education, or emerging tech policy (preferred)

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment
